Mark your calendars for April 13 – TwilightZora is organizing a Dayton-area meetup at Scene 75. It's a huge entertainment center that has an arcade, laser tag, bowling, go-karts, and a ton more, and it looks like it'll be a lot of fun! Details after the break.

TwiZora says:

So, I have created the scene 75 meet up. It is the largest indoor entertainment center in the country! So, April 13th is the date I have planned (due to an EXTRA heads up so more people can go!). It's in Dayton, so there's an even amount of driving for Columbus and Cincinnati bronies. Their website can be found here. Time: 4pm! till whenever. I havent been to Scene 75 for about a year, so I wanted to go again and thought, why not make it an event. There is no fee to walk into the door, however, each item costs differently. For your eating pleasures, there is a Bar & Grill inside the building (though it is a bit pricey), however there are TONS of restaurants near by that we could decide on attending afterword. For your evening events (just in case your not ready to go home) there is a club in Dayton that is pretty amazing. As for hotels, there are a ton of them, I know of a couple that price about 64 for two people. Let me know who all is attending so I can give the owners a heads up a weekend before.

There is no entry fee!

Here is some pricing for everyone to have a heads up on what they would like to do.

Arcade – Prices ranging from $.25 to $2.00 (nearly 100 different games)
Laser Tag – $8.50 per mission (15 minute experience)
Go-Karts – $8.00 per race (8-9 laps depending on speed; must be 58″ tall and 10 years or older to drive)
Spin Zone – $4.00 per ride (must be 48″ tall to ride)
Chaos Room – $5.00 per 30 minutes / $8.00 per hour / $14.00 per 2 hours
Bouncing – $5.00 per 30 minutes / $7.00 per hour / $12.00 per 2 hours
Blacklight Mini-Golf – $5.00 per 9 holes / $8.00 per 18 holes
4-D Theaters – $5.00 per ride (must be 48″ tall to ride)
Lazer Frenzy – $2.00 per game
Atomic Rush – $2.00 per game (per person)
Mini-Bowling – $3.00 per game
Bocce Leagues – $99.00 per team (advance registration required)
Fantasy Sports Leagues – $79.00 per team (advance registration required)
Volleyball Leagues – $70.00 per 2-player team / $140.00 per 4-player team / $210.00 per 6-player team (advance registration required).

A bunch of us decided we were going to Peach's and a Facebook event was made. Then more people began to RSVP and we began to wonder if Peach's will be accommodating.

We found out they were more than accommodating and they were such lovely folks for allowing us to take up eight tables worth of space. All chairs were taken. Shams joined the party in spirit with his name hastily written on a napkin since he couldn't make it. People ordered food, and a random Red Velvet cake was being passed around. Because nobody had a plate, but plenty of knives and forks, a good percentage just ate it straight off the plate, and a few people forewent the knives and forks. And yes, there were more than a few Portal jokes being tossed around. It's inevitable.

After much cake consumption and many had paid for their bills, a few of us that were more claustrophobic decided going to the park was our next venture. However the lull of a comic shop was much stronger. After loitering and ransacking the establishment's Pony merch, we decide to follow the rest of the people to the park.

The park, was more or less a skate park, and a few decided parkour was the mane event, including Kanke's epic fail with heelies. Razor pulled up Gangnam Style on his laptop and people danced to that. People were declared OTPs of each other, and random spooning (for warmth, they said!) on cold concrete was had.

It was decided a warmer establishment was needed since the sun had gone down officially and winter decided it wanted to join in on our fun. A few people tried to navigate sites that weren't meant for mobile use to find a nearby hotel that would at least fit our needs. Barring that, they decided that a Walmart was the next best thing. Since apparently all hotels were booked for some random hotel thing that was never advertised anywhere, a bunch went to Walmart because what else is there to do at 8 at night?

(The next bit is written by TwilightZora as some of us had decided going home at a reasonable hour since 6 AM happens. According to Zora:)

On the way, we missed Walmart. It was hilarious. I walked in, only girl surrounded by guys (later the others came up). We met in the little girls isle, observed ponies, then odd girls toys. Continued by taking pictures, going around... walking. Played (find Zora) no one found me, got bored.. Found them. sat at Subway in Walmart till it closed at 11 PM, THEN we stood next to subway till midnight, then jumped Brick's car, and went home.

Yo, Springfield/Dayton area peeps! There's a meet planned for this Saturday at Peach's Grill in Yellow Springs, starting at 4 PM and ending ... whenever, probably quite late.

For those who haven't been before, Peach's is an awesome little place with some pretty great food (and for interested parties of legal age, a great bar selection as well. It's right off of Route 68; here's a map. There's hardly any parking out front, but they have quite a bit more around back, and there's also ample parking by the community center which is about a two-minute walk.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4015027228526078309.post-52516775103560936072013-01-12T15:50:00.000-05:002013-01-12T15:50:15.059-05:00Mocha Meetup

Hay you people from the northeast! Tired of driving south all the time because everything is always all the way down in Columbus? Well, I've got great news for you! You get to drive in a totally different direction for a meetup now, because we're going to have a meetup that's far away from everyone! Or so we think... let's find out.

On Saturday, January 26, at 1pm, let's meet at the Mocha House in Warren. This is a neat coffee house – one of my favorite coffee places, actually. They have a full menu, and also a huge selection of cakes and giant cookies and many delicious pastries. They also have a lot of space, which means we can move a few tables around, take over the place, and then buy all their art.

After that, we can venture over to the Eastwood Mall, about a ten-minute drive from the Mocha House. This is a fairly massive complex featuring an aquarium, a minor-league baseball stadium and at least two movie theaters. Most importantly, yes, there is a Toys'R'Us. We can wander the mall, go see a movie, whatever. There are also a ton of good restaurants where we can go for dinner, and a few more places we can just hang out. Once everyone's together, we can figure out what we're doing.

Sunday: I dunno lol. We can come up with something depending on turnout.

So if you're any of the bajillion places that are within an hour of here (Cleveland, Akron, Canton, Ashtabula, and even Pittsburgh are all about the same distance away), come hang out! It'll be fun.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4015027228526078309.post-90695050295900252212013-01-06T09:06:00.001-05:002013-01-14T13:26:11.096-05:00Ohayocon meetups

UPDATE: Good news and bad news: Ohayocon posted the schedule... but one of the MLP panels is scheduled against the photoshoot! Here's the breakdown of what's happening and when.

Friday, 11 AM, Ballroom A: "Pony Panel 2: Wrath of Celestia" (1h30m) – seems like the same people who ran last year's panel. You'll probably still be in the registration line when this one's happening anyway.

Friday, 6 PM, Grant/Harding: "My Little Headcanon" (1h)

Friday, 7 PM, outside Grant/Harding: Meetup #1 (time/location moved due to panel)

Friday, 8 PM, Union C-E: "Ponies & Bronies for Newbies"

Friday, 8 PM, base of stairs: Photoshoot #1

Saturday, 2 PM, base of stairs: Photoshoot #2

Saturday, 6 PM, alcove behind stairs: Meetup #2

Sunday, 12 AM (that's Saturday night), Union A-B: "Bronies Late Night" – this is the AlcoBrony panel, which you might know from Colossalcon. It also might or might not have been canceled.

Whew! That sure is a lot of pony. See you at the con!

(Original post preserved below for reference.)

Yes, it's that time of the year again... Ohayocon! Here's what we know:

There will be two official photoshoots: Friday at 8 PM, and Saturday at 2 PM. Both will be near the food court, at the base of the giant stairs.

There will also be two MLP-related panels. One of them is being hosted by the same crew which did the Colossalcon panel, and the other is the My Little Headcanon panel which you might have previously seen if you were at Matsuricon.

Ohayocon tends not to post the panel schedule until right before (after? during?) the convention, so we don't yet know when or where these panels will be.

If nothing conflicts, let's meet on both Friday and Saturday evening at 6 PM, in the alcove behind the giant stairs on the lower level. (This is the area to the right as you go down the stairs, with all the windows - it's one of the places where we ended up last year.) If a panel happens to be scheduled within an hour of this time, then we'll meet instead in the nearest open area to the panel right after it's finished.

I was digging through the forums looking around for upcoming meetup plans, and found a bunch of stuff! I'm not 100% sure what the status on all these things is, but here goes anyway. Corrections and additions are welcome, of course.
(Edit: Okay, not all of these are strictly holiday-related, but close enough.)
Short version:

December 29: Strat's birthday party at Dave & Busters

December 31: RadarStorm's New Year's party

January 5: Trickster's party

January 12-13: Ice skating at the Chiller in <del>Dublin</del> <ins>Easton</ins> with SuperDSombrero

January 18-20: Ohayocon

January 26-27: Starshine's as-yet-unspecified northeast Ohio meetup

Send us stuff!

Details after the cut.

On December 29, Strat is planning a birthday party at Dave & Busters in Columbus. I don't know very much about this event since it's some kinda secret Facebook thing and I don't know the secret Facebook handshake, but if you have that capability, here's the link for further details.

A couple days later, and also in Columbus, RadarStorm will be hosting a New Year's Eve party, on December 31 (obviously), starting around 6 PM. It's at his house, so ask him if you're not sure where to go, and I guess ask someone else if you don't know how to ask him! :)

Not enough partying? On January 5, 2013, starting at 1 PM, Trickster is having a Pirate Post-Xmas Party at the Wild Oats Den. (1350 Wild Oats Drive – once again, in Columbus!) There will be a "white elephant" gift exchange for this one:

Appropriate gifts to dump into the party pool are used/useless crap you want to get rid of, or small gift items (please keep anything "new" under $10 in value, or handmade). You don't need to bring anything to attend, but the more items we get, the more bizarre the ensuing piratey plundering/pillaging party becomes, so try to bring something if you can...especially if it's something gawd-awful someone gave you for the holly-daze that you don't know how you'd get rid of it.

If you're still not worn out, SuperDSombrero is planning an ice skating party for the weekend of January 12-13 at the Chiller in ... guess where ... Dublin! (If you were thinking Columbus, we'll count that as it's pretty close.) Admission and skate rental will be around $10 or so.
Update 12/20: Meetup location changed to Easton.

The following week, January 18-20, will be Ohayocon, once again in Columbus. As far as I know, no one's planning a pony meetup there yet, but we'll probably do something at some point during the weekend.

There is certainly no shortage of events in the Columbus area, but how about elsewhere in the state? Darkly and I moved up northeast not too terribly long ago, so now it's a three-hour drive for us to get to where all this stuff is taking place, so let's switch it up a little and have you guys drive up toward us for a change! On January 26-27, we'll be having a meetup up in our neck of the woods. The exact details are still nebulous, but it'll be about an hour east from Cleveland and Akron. (Yes, we're still in Ohio.) We'll post more information later.
Last but not least! This blog has been really, really quiet lately, so let's change that. If you're planning a meetup, let us know so we can post about it here. Did something? Give us photos! Drew some art? Send it to us! Write a vaguely disturbing shipfic? Er... maybe keep that one to yourself. This is everyone's group, so don't hesitate to let us know what you want to see. (Corollary: if we're derps and forget to post something you've sent, remind us! :)Unknownnoreply@blogger.com12tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4015027228526078309.post-86154498503108789552012-11-15T23:55:00.001-05:002013-02-25T17:09:20.814-05:00Cleveland Zoo Meet

Hey all! We will be meeting at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo on November 17th at 11am. The group will most likely head into the Zoo between 11:30 to noon and stay until it closes, which is at 5pm. Zoo admission is $8.25 and parking is free.

After we are done at the Zoo we will be heading to Winking Lizard Tavern in Lakewood, OH for dinner.
Hay, everypony! We've cooked up another meetup for you to attend, and this one's biiiiig, so mark your calendar, call off work, hire a stunt double, and do whatever else is necessary to make sure you're there! We have the largest area at Blendon Woods – Sycamore Shelter – reserved for Saturday, October 6th. Sycamore has capacity for well over 100 people (with sheltered seating for about 80), horseshoe pits, swings, a big kitchen area that we definitely plan on using, and ample parking directly nearby. We will be grilling some burgers, probably also ordering a big stack of pizzas, jamming to some music, watching ponies, playing games, and much more. There will also be table space available for artists to peddle their wares.

Come early and stay late; we've got the place for the whole day and will be there from about 9 AM until 7 PM. Afterward, we're not quite sure, but we can hang out somewhere else, catch a movie, invade a local restaurant, or just call it a night. We'll discuss that before heading out and will try to make sure no one gets all lost.

This is also your first (and cheapest!) chance to pre-register for TrotCon next summer: at this meetup, a mere $20 will get you a badge for next year's con, and you won't see that price again ... except maybe as a single-day rate. There will be details and hints of what's in store, some of which won't be posted anywhere until quite some time later.

Still not convinced? Attend now, and we'll DOUBLE your meetup! On Sunday, those interested can join us at COSI. It's open from noon until 6 PM, and we're planning to make the most of the day and be there the whole time. Let us know soon if you're interested in this, as we can get a group discount for parties of twelve or more. For those unfamiliar with COSI, it's a nifty science center full of all sorts of exhibits and hands-on activities. While it's mostly targeted toward children, it also has a lot of cool stuff for people of all ages. (Besides, don't we all watch a certain kids' TV show? ;)
Hay, Cincinnati bronies! The next meetup in the area will be at the Cincinnati Zoo on August 18th, and is being organized by Joey Edwards (aka Bigjoe). It will start at 9:00 AM, but don’t fret! You are allowed to come late if you want. The price of general admission is $15.00 and parking is $8.00. After we get done at the Cincinnati Zoo, we could get something to eat at a nearby restaurant and possibly hang out at a hotel suite (even though last Cincinnati meetup we were hanging out at a bronies home lol).

You can keep in contact with the event organizer on Facebook and also on his cellular device at (513) 846-2843. When: Thursday, July 26, 5:00 PM

Almost exactly a year ago to the day, we held our first public meetup in Columbus at Momo's, and about 30 or so people showed up for it. Last weekend, we had a slightly bigger event, TrotCon, which had roughly 700 attendees. In other words, we've grown one heck of a lot in the last twelve months, and we owe this in part to Momo's for being such cool guys and letting us come in, set up a projector, and have some fun. Before we left, we chatted a bit with the staff, most of whom had never heard of the show and were at least a little confused that a big group of people just showed up to hang out and watch a little girls' cartoon.

After several meetups all around the state, we came back to Momo's last November, and Darkly Cute made them a custom pony, which we presented to them at the end of the night. They were pretty excited to get it, and they told us that some of their staff had gotten into watching the show in the few months between the two times we were there. Pretty awesome.

Now for the serious bit... We very recently heard some unfortunate news that Momo's is closing. The gist of what's happened is that the Kroger in the same plaza is apparently buying out the rest of the building in order to expand. We're not quite sure about some of the specifics, but Momo's is scheduled to pack up and leave on the 29th, and when we talked to their manager, he said that it might cost about $100,000 to either help secure their location or find them a new home. I fully believe we can make this happen. As a community, we collected over three times that in less than a month for BronyCon: The Documentary, and we pulled over $10,000 in one day for Inked! Art For Africa. Just this past weekend, after roaming High Street, about thirty of us stumbled into Dane's Dessert Cafe, more or less took over the place, bought some of the art from the walls, and gave them over 100% in tips – and we didn't even have a compelling reason, other than "this is a cool place." We even helped run the place and cleaned up after ourselves when we left. It's what we do as a group.

For those in the Columbus area or willing to drive, we will be having an impromptu meetup at Momo's this Thursday, the 26th, starting at 5:00 PM. We'll be doing what we do best, hanging out and having fun. We will also be finding out more details about the place closing and figure out what we can do to help, so expect a follow-up post from us soon, probably with a Kickstarter fund. Any help will definitely be appreciated, not only from Momo's but also from us, because we feel they were in some small part responsible for helping launch us as a group to where we are now.

The Indiana Bronies – you know, that state west of us? – are organizing an event that's coming up pretty soon. Their Summer Sun Celebration will run overnight from June 19 at 8 PM to June 20 at 8 AM. It's in Unionville, IN, a bit south of Indianapolis and just a couple hours west of the border. That's totally drivable for all you Dayton and Cincinnati folks, and it's still only about 4 hours from Columbus. Tickets are $15, and it is going to be worth it. I hear they've got live entertainment, panels, and games, and you even get breakfast!

Here's the description from their event page on Facebook:

Are you ready to party? Is your favorite pony Princess Celestia (No? Well, do you at least love her just a little bit?)? Have you ever wanted to see a real-life Summer Sun Celebration with all of your friends?

If you said yes to the any of the above-or you even found some other worthy reason-then we invite you out to the Hoosier Hooves First Summer Sun Celebration! We've got all kinds of music, dancing, and games ready to keep all of your sun-loving faces happy all the way through the sunrise! Nightmare Moon isn't on the guest list this year, so we fully expect to have the sun rise on time-no Elements of Harmony required!

Cost of entry is $15 per person. This helps to cover the tremendous cost of hosting this AND provides each of you with a complete, catered breakfast right after the sunrise [and maybe more, pending a few details]!

Registration for this will open in a few days and we hope that everyone attending will register in advance-registration will only be open for a short time at the event to facilitate those bringing guests-be sure to make arrangements with us early if you know you will be making it to the event, but will be arriving late!

We will be hosting the Summer Sun Celebration at the lovely Lake Lemon, which is nestled right between Bloomington and Indianapolis. We'll disclose the exact address just a little bit later when we settle on parking locations and have easy directions for all of you to follow!
Panel and game registration is about to close soon, so please contact Jonathan Siegert or Andrew Riley as soon as possible if you would like to host something! If you would like to perform any music, please contact David Isenberg as soon as possible!

Now we don't want any of you driving home with no sleep, so you're certainly welcome to bring a tent to setup after the event ends at 8 and sleep for a few hours until you're good and ready to go home! There's also a few hotels in the area that we'll have listed for your convenience in case camping isn't your style.

Unfortunately, I also have to add that those at or under the age of 13 will have to have their parent with them to register and to remain with them throughout the entire duration of the event. This is for your own safety and for our liability. If there are any questions about this policy, please contact Jonathan Siegert.
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4015027228526078309.post-37105079858865879282012-06-05T05:33:00.001-04:002012-06-06T02:19:53.922-04:00Cincinnati meetup...s

Suddenly, lots of things are happening down in Cincinnati! First up, and this one is rather short notice, there will be a meetup on June 9, at Arcade Legacy at the Cincinnati Mills Mall. It's being organized by the Cincinnati meetup group. From them:

"I have been there many times and they allow you to play Pon3 songs on their Rockband, and plus the speakers are all over the place for that game and are SUPER loud so we could reach out to other Bronies. It is also VERY fun and it is a great way to meet people."

It looks like getting there will be fairly self-explanatory, but if you need to contact someone for this, talk to Joseph Edwards at (513) 846-2843 (note: that was a typo before), or if you've got Facebook, you can also find him on there.

Deimos Foxx is planning a meetup next month, July 7–8, at the Cincinnati Museum Center. This one's going to be somewhat bigger, like one of our usual two-day things with a hotel and so on. Here's the details:

Hey Everypony! Deimos Foxx here, and I am ready for the long awaited Cincinnati Meet! And who better to plan this, other than Starshine? Why myself, of course! The destination of this meet is The Cincinnati Museum Center, where there's 3 museums (haha! the fun has been tripled!), an Omnimax theater, a cafe, and a special exhibit all in one huge building!

The 3 museums consist of: History of Cincinnati, Duke Energy's Children Museum, and Natural History & Science Museum. For just these 3 museums, its $12.50 per person.

The Omnimax theater has a few movies playing, but only one is played frequently for right now, and that's "To The Artic." In this film, you follow caribou and polar bears through the Artic, seeing all the different landscapes and animals who live there. Here's more information on it: http://www.cincymuseum.org/omnimax/arctic For the 3 museums and the Omnimax movie, its $16.00 per person.

The special exhibit that is there for right now until August is The Day in Pompeii Exhibit. This exhibit shows all the archaeological finds from the lost city of Pompeii. Here's more information on it: http://www.cincymuseum.org/pompeii For the 3 museums, the Omnimax movie, and the Pompeii Exhibit, its $26.50 a person.

**The plan for this meet is as follows. First, we will all meet at the Cincinnati Museum Center at 11:30am on July 7th. We'll all get our tickets for the 3 museums and the Omnimax theater, and then have some lunch in the cafe. At noon, we will then venture off into the museums, and the fun shall begin! If we have enough time and if enough perople would like to do it, we can upgrade our passes to see the Pompeii exhibit. The museum closes at 5pm, we will then head on over to the nearest, highly requested restaurant for some dinner. Afterward, we'll go to the hotel where we have rented out one of their suites. There, we'll play pony games, draw, tell funny stories (Rrrrrrrrrrity), and watch mlp fim episodes! (I'll bring my speakers, someone else will have to bring the projector and the laptop). Last time we had a suite and played these games, it was so much funny and so hilarious! We all had such a great time and only cost each of us about $10 for the room.

Also, feel free to wear your brony shirts or pony cosplay outfits to the museum center, we're gonna say it loud and proud, "Pony Meet Over Here!" Not literally, of course, hahaha. And if anyone wants to bring snacks, food, or pop for the hotel portion of the meet, we would all greatly appreciate it. And if you can make it to the museum portion, then its totally fine just to come to the hotel portion, and vis versa. I'd love to see you all there, this meet is going to be epic! Brony on my friends!

We had about 30 people in our group at Cedar Point, and many of us were brohoofed by others at the park. A few ambitious people got there early and hung out for a while at the registration area until Starshine finally showed up, having taken the least efficient route to get to the park. After check-in, Edin took a portal to get from the registration desk to the cabins five minutes before the rest of us. As it turned out, we took a stupid route to get there instead of going straight down the road. The buildings looked disturbingly small, but like a TARDIS, they turned out to be bigger on the inside. The cabin loft is the best place to roll.
Suddenly, <strike>parasprite</strike> <strike>mayfly</strike> midge invasion. Can’t say we weren’t warned, they were handing out flyers about them at the reg desk. There was a huge cloud lurking by the door, which promptly rushed into the cabin as soon as we let them in. Much towel-waving and swatting ensued. Darkly Cute ran into the other room to hide.
Once we’d all gotten into the cabins and dropped off our stuff, we crammed back into cars, leaving King and Kilt behind, and went to Cici’s for dinner, then across the parking lot to Meijer to get food and supplies for the rest of the weekend: brats, ground beef, buns, chips, drinks, cups, plates, charcoal, more drinks, blind bag ponies, sidewalk chalk, alcoholic drinks, and streamers... but oddly, no balloons. When we got back, EliPony started ponifying the sidewalk up to the cabin while some others “tested” the alcohol. Trixie lurked in the cupboard and watched us make bad decisions about drinking on a night before riding roller coasters.
It took a while to figure out how to split up the tickets, and how to get everyone into the park, but we managed to sort out who actually wanted to get in early, and got a stack of 10 early-entry tickets from the reg desk. The rest of us herded toward the group sales booth at the front of the park, where we lurked suspiciously for some time before everyone showed up. With some assistance, Starshine finally managed to count to 18 correctly, purchased a stack of tickets, and handed them out right before the park opened. Then everyone split off and ran in all sorts of directions.
For reasons unknown to us, basketballs are extremely popular at the park, enough that there are actually signs in front of the coasters informing riders that basketballs are not permitted on rides. Was the B-Ball Removal Department actually affiliated with Cedar Point? Could it be true?! Only Charles Barkley knows.

RACCOONS ON THE TRACK! As we got to the front of the line for Mean Streak, the ride operator made an announcement that the ride would be closed for a while. We stood there anyway for a half hour and watched Party of One. The ride attendant was totally watching it with us. Meanwhile, Darkly Cute and Brickule waited paitently by the exit, wondering if we had all gotten lost in the line. After the episode, we gave up and left to ride something else.

Meanwhile, Edinpony and Kilt raced to the Millenium Force to beat the line, only to find out it didn’t open until half an hour after we got there. Andapanda and EBD (?) rode the Raptor while we were on the line ride and then came to join us and rode the Millenium Force at the same time as us, proving that they are a lot smarter and that I like run-on sentences.
After waiting a little at the ride exit, the group swelled to include King and DB, and we herded over to ride the Maverick (which is awesome) and the Skyhawk. We rode the Skyhawk like a zillion times because that ride was the best thing ever and had almost no wait time. Edin and EBD decided that everypony else walks way way too slowly.

We arranged to meet by the Sky Tram at 1:00 in order to discuss how hungry everyone was. A group of people headed back to the cabin, where andapanda cooked some delicious burgers. The rest spent $9 apiece on less-delicious burgers and chicken.

(Voltekaru)
It was the first time I ever had Chick-Fil-A, thanks to the fact that there’s only two locations in Michigan for it, one in Jackson and one in Oakland University’s food court for Celestia-knows-why, so honestly I didn’t mind paying so much for spicy chicken. It was pretty good spicy chicken too, and I got some awesome chicken nuggets by accident so that made up for the price. The waffle fries weren’t really up to par, though, but I’ve had them quite a few times before so it wasn’t much of a lost. Also got to acquire a cup of holding in the process, filling it up with water about... 15 times. Man was I thirsty.

I didn’t actually finish eating before our group left, so I decided to wait out the next ride, Gemini, as I finished the yummy nuggets on a bench near the ride exit. I people-watched a bit, seeing out another non-group brony exit the ride with a few friends as well as, out of all things, a pair of Homestuck cosplayers eating ice cream on a curb across from me. I didn’t personally talk to them, but Jessica and a few others discussed a mutual love for the webcomic for about 15 minutes after I pointed it out. Turns out they were part of a group of I think seven cosplayers. Neat to see another fandom group in the park like that.
(/Voltekaru)

A bunch of us went from there to Disaster Transport, which was almost a good idea, except the air conditioning in the building wasn’t working, so we got to stand in line inside a big tin box that was about ten degrees warmer than the already-hot outside air. Darkly Cute hung onto Starshine’s arm the whole time and complained that she didn’t know if it was going to go upside-down because it was dark. After that we attempted to ride the WindSeeker, which mysteriously closed after we’d been standing in line for about fifteen minutes. (We’re blaming raccoons.) Darkly gave up and went to stare at dinosaurs, and the rest of us dispersed in various directions.
Yeehaw.

At 7:00, we all gathered together again and planned to take a picture. Everypony expected Starshine to make some sort of announcement about what to do, but he’d all but lost his voice by that point from screaming like a maniac on the rides all day long, so half the group had no idea what he was saying. A bunch of people wandered away to ride Millenium Force again, but the rest of the group surprisingly managed to keep together for the whole 500 feet we walked to the Top Thrill sign. After more unclear communication, we actually got a photo of about half the group.
After this photo-op, we all split up again to go kill off a couple more hours and ride whatever rides we hadn’t ridden yet. A few of us thought it’d be a great idea to chill for a few minutes on the Ferris wheel. We soon learned that Ferris wheel lines are really, really long, and skipped out to ride something else instead. Riding the Raptor at 10 PM may not have been the best decision at the time, but it was amazing, upside-down, and in the dark, and stars spinning around in all directions made the hour-long wait worth it. Also, Edinpony got a brohoof from the ride attendant. (We gave him an Ohio Bronies card. He grinned.) Too bad our plans to crush each other afterward while spinning around in circles on the Himalaya didn’t pan out, but that was a good closer for the night.
With sore feet and tired legs, we trotted all the way across the park back to the cabin to have more delicious grilled foods. Ponies were playing on the biggest wall in the cabin until 3 AM, everypony snuggled Queen Chrysalis. Many alcohols were consumed, and many fanfics were written... in crayon... on paper plates. We slept eight feet in the air, and everyone who didn’t get that joke laughed awkwardly every time it was brought up.

Sunday:

After a few short hours of sleep, we managed to get up and clear out of the cabins. Hearing the battle cry of “Pins! Pins!” Darkly Cute and Starshine set up a makeshift shop in the parking lot so that everypony else could throw money around. At some point, Starshine noticed that his one tire had mysteriously gone almost completely flat and briefly panicked until EBD slapped him around and brought him back to reality, where tools and spare tires exist. While this was happening, the rest of the group headed to the local Toys”R”Us, whereupon we were given very strange looks by the employees as we ransacked the blind bag boxes. After Starshine finally showed up, we hung around the store for a little while more, discussed toys and games, then meandered over to the Thirsty Pony.
Arrival at the Thirsty Pony was pretty well coordinated, and Sombrero got to ride in a sweet convertible, courtesy of DB. The gentleman serving us did an admirable job of taking care of all eighteen of us, several of which were carrying MLP plushies. He seemed to think they were prizes from the park, though. Food took about an hour to prepare, but was good. (Can’t really blame them, as the place had literally just opened and they weren’t expecting a big group.) Discussion gravitated toward anime and video games, for the most part.
After plenty of confusion trying to figure out how much money everyone needed to throw at him, we migrated out to the parking lot to take one last group photo. We then hung around awkwardly until Starshine remembered that he had a bunch of temporary tattoos with ponies on them and handed them out. After some more awkward staring at each other, we all went our separate ways.

Somehow on the drive back, andapanda and Edinpony managed to run into each other, quite literally. What’s more, Starshine just so happened to be going the same route at the same time, recognized the two cars, and stopped to say hi. (Yes, everyone is fine, although Peanut Bucker sustained minor damage... oh yeah, andapanda’s hood and Edin’s bumper might need some attention too.)Unknownnoreply@blogger.com10tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4015027228526078309.post-52485852248939240512012-05-14T01:16:00.001-04:002012-06-09T18:11:01.694-04:00Pony Pin Pre-Orders #5Going to BronyCon or TrotCon this summer? Nothing to do this weekend? Have you been bored ever since the Season 2 finale? Well, we've got the perfect solution: a <strike>livestream</strike> SynchTube marathon of every episode! You don't even have to leave your house. Order some pizza, kick back, and prepare to pony hard.

This weekend, DashAttack will be hosting an MLP:FIM mare-athon, play all of Season 1 starting Friday, May 4, at 5:00 PM, and Season 2 starting Saturday around 6:00 PM. (We're crazy, but not quite crazy enough to watch all 52 episodes without a break!)

<strike>Come join us. It'll be secret but fun</strike>. (stream over, link gone)

Here's the rough plan for Cedar Point. We will be in the park on Saturday, May 19, though we'll be getting there some time Friday night so that we can travel up at our leisure and get some rest first. This way, we can get into the park early on Saturday and enjoy the entire day there. Then we'll hang out in the room Saturday night, probably get a bit more sleep, check out Sunday and go do whatever else there is to do in Sandusky (I hear there's a nice amusement park in the area.... oh wait)

Tickets for this will be $30 per person with a nice fancy group discount. For accommodations, the most sensible arrangement is probably a cabin at Lighthouse Point, which can hold eight people comfortably and works out to about $50 per person for the weekend. (This is probably an overestimate and the prices might go down quite a bit. I'll let everyone know.) I will have everything finalized and will take payments for this on May 7, and I will need the money by the 14th. If for some reason you can't pay me by then or don't know if you're going, ask me and we'll figure something out.

Want to go? Email me at starshine@derpymail.com and let me know! If you can only stay one night, tell me and I'll work with you.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4015027228526078309.post-22999787934422177632012-04-17T22:00:00.000-04:002012-04-17T22:03:50.748-04:00Drawfriend: Yellow SpringsSo there was a meetup recently in Yellow Springs, and art happened there!
Yo Poneghs! Dem royalties be havin' a weddin' all up in dat Canterlot shiznat! And would ya believe, they be streamin' it live all across Equestria. So we here at der Poneh Haus thought, hey, why don't we grab all our home pones, crack open some ciders, and see dem royals tie dat knot?
Huzzah!

For all the whats, wheres, whos, and howsits, check out all the things at http://trotcon.com/

So as you all now know, we here are planning this amazing TrotCon thing that you all wanna come to and party like it's Twi's birthday! "But wait!" you say. "I heard something about Canterlot Gardens HALP AH'M CONFUS" Never fear my little ponies, we shall explain to you all the things!

TrotCon (http://trotcon.com/) and Canterlot Gardens (http://www.canterlotgardens.com/) are two separate pony conventions in the same state. Apparently two separate groups here in Ohio were both working on conventions at the same time and both decided to go public with information at the same time! Crazy that. We have no affiliation with Canterlot Gardens, nor are we against them. We wish them the best in their endeavors up by the lake, but are obviously tied up ourselves in making sure TrotCon will be the greatest thing since Princess Luna returned from her banishment!

To dispel some of the other rumors that have been floating around: No, we did not create TrotCon as a last minute effort to one-up Canterlot Gardens. We've been planning this for over six months now and didn't want to release any information about it until things were confirmed. We don't like making promises we can't keep. No, we are not actively trying to tell people not to go to Canterlot Gardens. As was said earlier, we don't wish them any ill will. We're just focused on our own thing, for obvious reasons. Also in regards to that, due to conflicts of interest, if you want to be heavily involved in the planning portion of TrotCon, we will have to request that you not be involved in the planning of Canterlot Gardens. We'd just like to avoid any accusations of idea thievery and that kinda noise.

There you have it. Look forward to great things in our wonderful state this year!rpb3000http://www.blogger.com/profile/17119941343695750362noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4015027228526078309.post-38489525445758834622012-03-17T03:22:00.000-04:002012-03-17T03:24:11.937-04:00Drawfriend: Dayton

This is really late, but it took a long time to get everything scanned! These are in no particular order, aside from the order of the 50-page stack of paper. If you want your art back, just ask. We'll hang onto all of these for at least the next few meetups.

The Cleveland Museum of Natural History has a special exhibit on Dragons, Unicorns & Mermaids. Admission is a mere ten dollars. We will be there starting at noon. It's a big place, so we will likely be spending a few hours there. Afterward, we can wander out to Wade Park right outside. In the event of torrential downpour (after all, it is springtime in Ohio) we can seek refuge across the park in the Cleveland Museum of Art. At 5:00 when the museums close, we'll head about a half mile east to Rascal House for dinner, and see what other damage we can do around town. For those who don't want to drop the $10 for the museum, you're certainly welcome to say hi anyway, hang out at the park, and come eat dinner with us.

After dinner, we'll head to a hotel, hook up the pony projector, and stay up much later than reasonable. You're welcome, neigh, encouraged to stay even if you're from the local area: we tend to do plenty more besides sleeping. Since this meetup also serves as a birthday party for Darkly Cute, there will be cake. We also will dedicate a bit of time to announcements and discussion for some interesting events we have planned for the future.

On Sunday, we'll head out to the Parmatown Mall, stopping at Toys"R"Us, Target, Walmart, and McDonalds (for the ponies, not the food!), and then go somewhere to eat lunch. Time and weather permitting, we might go chill at a park for the afternoon.

In the interest of helping prevent people from getting completely lost like at the last meet, we will be passing around maps and directions highlighting the various interesting places around the city that we might visit.

Facebook Event Page Unknownnoreply@blogger.com14tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4015027228526078309.post-67423118968872116072012-02-24T23:57:00.000-05:002012-02-24T23:57:38.359-05:00A couple reminders

If you want to go to ACen, you've got until March 1 to pay if you want to get a special badge with "Ohio Bronies" written on it. (They're also slightly cheaper than the normal badge price.) If you don't know what this is about, contact Darkly Cute.

We're also looking for more confirmed attendees to the planned Cedar Point trip in May. So far we only have three going; we need at least fifteen in order to get a group discount, and this event won't happen without one since that practically doubles the ticket price. Get in touch with Starshine for this. (You won't need to pay for the ticket for quite some time, but we do need to know you're planning to go.)Unknownnoreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4015027228526078309.post-19714876892025312012-02-22T19:34:00.001-05:002012-02-22T19:35:38.404-05:00"I want to host something!"A number of people have brought up the idea of hosting meetups in various locations, and we're completely okay with this. If you do want to host your own event, just ask us and we can work with you to make it the best it can be. All we ask of you is that you check our calendar to make sure your event isn't conflicting with something we've already planned – especially if it's nearby or relatively large-scale – because it's really hard to be in two places at once, and we don't want either to suffer from lack of attendance because of the other. (Asking us before solidifying any plans might also be a very good idea, as we also have a few ... surprises that we aren't quite ready to tell everypony yet. ;)Unknownnoreply@blogger.com2
